Only one I've seen is no fear no die. Added all of these, very much looking forward to it. For anyone that wants it, I compiled them into a LB list. (I did this very quickly bc I'm at work, please forgive any mistakes) https://boxd.it/IM5Zc
Vengeance is Mine is revelatory! so glad you mentioned that, Personal Problems and Jamila the Algerian (which annoyingly did not play as part of the BFI's Chahine retrospective!!). lots more to check out, can't wait to tick some of these off!
lovely list; ive got so many things to add to watchlist on letterboxd, yum! and omg i agree that the ending of cane river is, literally, perfect. i was grinning so big when i left the theater
i discovered machinimas in april and, as a girl who doesn’t play video games but loves to watch them be played like it’s a movie, i have been fascinated by the concept ever since. i do not really know my way around them, sorting the good stuff from the… not as good stuff makes it hard to lock in. i’ve been compulsively watching and rewatching the first one i saw for the past couple months. so reading your blurb about rehearsals for retirement made me gasp aloud. kismet! some really interesting stuff in here, and your recs never fail me. thank u sammmm
No, sadly! I was working the night it screened at Doc Films and though I am sure there’s a transfer of it somewhere from when it aired on PBS, I cannot find it for the life of me.
Glad there’s at least one other person who likes MAN’S FAVORITE SPORT? I love that movie. Better than the original, same way I’d rather watch Rock Hudson than Cary Grant most of the time.

Thanks for the recs, im gonna watch them all!
'Cane River'! I was fortunate to review it and conduct an interview about its restoration some years back: https://bigeasymagazine.com/2018/12/01/new-classic-newly-restored-an-interview-on-cane-river/ - https://bigeasymagazine.com/2018/10/30/neaux-reel-idea-cane-river-noff2018-review/ - I'm so happy that it was included in your list. ⚜️🍿 www.moviegoing.rocks
Mr. Thank You is so heartwarming. I love that movie. Also, you have my trust forever for putting some Moritsugu on this list
Incredible list! Just as a quick note: the link for Mirage goes to the LB page for Milla again.
I saw Chain in class a few weeks ago, fantastic fantastic fantastic film.
wow...50 films and only 2 I've seen. you are a master.

love love loved ‘a new old film’ so glad it’s getting some attention!!
Have you seen Roemer's PILGRIM, FAREWELL (1980)? It's devastating. Roemer really should've made every movie, I think.

Hopefully, Criterion or some other place puts it out. It’s bonkers. You’ll never see Christopher Lloyd the same way again.
Why isn’t Wallace and Gromit on this list, real cinema head speaking here ☝️☝️☝️
