I always think about one where he's like "dont get why ppl say 'vanity project' like it's a bad thing, are there even three better reasons to do a project"
Amazing list! Not ashamed to admit that countless hours of my tween-age years were dedicated to reading Film Crit Hulk essays and binge watching Marble Hornets. While both contributed to greatly to defining the adult I’d become, I have zero interest in ever revisiting either of them, and thankfully feel like neither occupies much space in my mind these days
When I was 13 I lurked a forum called Young Composers, where a bunch of "gifted" teens would have heated arguments every week about whether atonal music was good or bad. I mustered up the courage to upload a janky MIDI recording of a piece I made, and this older jazz guy replied saying it was a "fun romp" - this slight attention, of course, meant everything. I asked him what music he liked but he didn't see my post...
Didn’t grow up on the internet so discoveries like that are still possible for me. Also, I won’t go on YouTube unless specifically directed, like in this case.
Homestarrunner.com was my middle school solace, and it became a secret code for dorky adults to find each other. Those brothers *still* release videos, and it's enriching to see they haven't lost their touch.
Can't speak for the crowd but I'd give literally anything for your piece on the Gormenghast cycle
Stop enabling me…dangerous game you’re playing there

That bit of Letterboxd lore is crazy.
I've never heard of half of this stuff, and goddam it's frightening. But Sleep No More sounds awesome, I'm glad you got to make it a repeat treat.
