I hear you on to Monique Wittig-esque critique of language in smut, but I don’t think you’ve sampled enough of it. There definitely is queer smut for queer people out there that does not fall into what you call “Barnes and Noble” smut—probably harder to find, since it wouldn’t be at a big box store like that.
